National Committee for Radio Science

The National Committee for Radio Science is a committee of the Australian Academy of Science. The aims of the Committee are to:

  • Enhance cross-fertilisation across the multi-disciplinary subject of radio science;
  • Propose and encourage activities in Australia, either jointly with other bodies or separately;
  • Liaise with URSI, the International Union of Radio Science, and other appropriate national and international bodies and societies;
  • Ensure the maximum participation by Australian scientists in relevant activities of URSI and keep URSI informed at appropriate times of Australian opinions and plans.

The NCRS has set up a mail group:

    • to give the NCRS Officers an easy way to communicate with all of you,
    • to periodically, post members a reminder about changes to the NCRS website,
    • to assist people interested in the activities of the NCRS to communicate more readily with others having similar interests, and in particular, to offer a forum for radio science discussions of interest to the Australian community.

This is an administed list hosted on computers owned by IPS, and hence by the Australian Government. To maintain some control over how it is used, members will be able to subscribe / unsubscribe and alter their membership information. Notes and questions to the list can be submitted directly by addressing a message to ncrs-general@ips.gov.au. However, messages will not be forwarded to the list members until they have been approved. This level of security should prevent the list being used to spam people and is not intended to censor or inhibit discussions.
